Abstract:
Cantium assumed operatorship of Main Pass 313 in 2017 and, following seismic reprocessing, reinterpreted the Upper Miocene H-10 interval as two distinct depositional episodes rather than a single reservoir package.
The revised interpretation identified discrete NE–SW trending H-10 Lower channel bodies, isolated by both stratigraphy and faulting. AVA analysis supported hydrocarbon presence at the Outforde prospect, a ~25-acre amplitude anomaly targeted in early 2024.
The well encountered more than 100 ft TVT of net oil, approximately 2.5 times the pre-drill estimate, and achieved initial production of approximately 1,800 BOPD. The result validated the revised depositional model and identified several adjacent amplitude anomalies as potential follow-on drilling opportunities within the mature MP313 field.
Biography:
Stefanie Frelinger is a Development Geoscientist with Cantium and lead geoscientist for Main Pass 313. She joined Cantium in 2020 after working with CNOOC International on exploration and development projects in the Central and Western deepwater Gulf of Mexico.
She holds an M.S. in Geoscience from the University of Texas at Austin and a B.S. in Geological Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.
Luke Pierce is an Exploration Geoscientist with Cantium, focused on seismic reprocessing and near-field exploration. He joined Cantium in 2019 and has more than 35 years of geophysical and exploration experience across the Gulf of Mexico and other U.S. basins.
His previous roles include positions with Warren Resources, Rooster Petroleum, ERT/Remington Oil & Gas, ORYX Energy, Enserch Exploration and Geco Geophysical. He holds a B.S. in Geophysics from the University of Houston.
